WhatsApp error 131000
Error 131000: Message failed: unknown error
Error 131000 means the send failed for a reason Meta did not name. It is often temporary, so the first step is to try again. If the same message keeps failing with 131000, Meta suggests raising a ticket with its Direct Support.
- Meta’s description
- “Message failed to send due to an unknown error.” Meta’s error codes, 5 October 2026
- Charged by Meta?
- No. Meta charges only for delivered messages, and this one was not delivered.
- Shown in Fliok analytics as
- “Generic error”
Common causes
- A temporary problem on Meta’s side while it handled the send.
- Meta says no more than “unknown error”, so the code alone does not show the cause.
How to fix it
- Send it again after a short wait. A second attempt usually works.
- If it keeps failing, raise a ticket with Meta’s Direct Support and include the message details.
What Fliok does about it
- Fliok treats 131000 as temporary and retries the send automatically, up to five attempts with growing gaps.
- It shows as “Generic error” in the analytics failure breakdown, and it does not set off an alert for each message.
Meta sets and changes these codes. If anything here disagrees with Meta’s current reference, Meta is right.
A few times, with a gap in between, is enough. If it still fails, the problem is not passing, and Meta’s support is the next step.
